  • Sump Pumps | Brayton Plumbing

Sump Pump knowledge is minimal for most, but luckily we deal with them daily and can give you a full scope of how we treat them Sump pumps Sump pumps protect your basement and crawl space by redirecting water away from your home to prevent damage. Most main sump pumps are hardwired into your electrical system or plugged into a standard outlet. Many systems also include a battery backup, ensuring the pump continues to operate during power outages or heavy storms. The backup can also assist the main pump if water levels rise too quickly, helping prevent overflow and keeping your home safe and dry. Types of Sump Pumps Sump pumps come in two main types: pedestal and submersible. A pedestal sump pump is mounted above the sump pit, making it easy to access for maintenance and testing. A submersible sump pump sits inside the sump pit, remaining out of sight while it operates. The sump pit, often lined with a plastic well, acts as a collection basin for excess water. Typically dug into the lowest point of the basement floor and extending two feet or more in depth, the pit holds water until the pump safely redirects it away from your home. sump pumps in action During a rainstorm, groundwater around your home is directed into a perimeter drain system, which channels the water through perforated pipes into the sump pit and well. When water reaches a preset level, a float switch activates the sump pump, which safely redirects the water to a storm drain, dry well, or another outdoor area. Many sump pumps also feature battery-powered alarms to alert you if the pump is malfunctioning or overwhelmed, helping prevent potential flooding. To ensure your system is ready, test your sump pump regularly by pouring a bucket of water into the pit and confirming it pumps out the water and shuts off properly. Annual cleaning and inspection are also recommended to keep your sump pump in optimal working condition.

Menu FF TECH INC. Close HOME SERVICES Residential Plumbing Water Heaters Commercial Renovations ABOUT US Our Rates Terms & Privacy Our Work Rebates and Offers Reviews Damaged Sewer Lines What are the signs? Gurgling sounds coming from the toilet Little to no water remaining in the toilet bowl A bathtub that drains slowly or not at all Sewage backing up into the toilet or tub Foul odors in the basement or yard, indicating sewage may not be reaching the city sewer line—a potential health hazard Why does this happen? Lack of maintenance: Hair, grease, food waste, and sanitary products can build up, creating clogs, increasing pressure, and eventually causing cracks. Tree root intrusion: Roots seek out moisture and can enter through tiny openings or joints, pushing their way in until the pipe splits. Weather-related damage: Repeated ground freezing and thawing can stress sewer lines, leading to cracks or breaks. Frozen pipes: A single severe freeze inside the line can block, crack, or completely burst a sewer pipe. Earth movement: Earthquakes or nearby soil shifts can displace or damage sewer lines. Aging infrastructure: Old or deteriorating pipes naturally weaken and fail over time. Possible Solutions for a Broken Sewer Line Worried about your sewer line? Are tree roots invading your lateral? Do you suspect your pipes are leaking sewage beneath your property? Before a messy and costly disaster happens, wouldn’t it be great to have your sewer repaired or re-piped without the hassle? Call Brayton Plumbing! We offer quick, efficient, reliable, and long-lasting trenchless repair solutions. ore affordable. Possible Solutions for a Broken Sewer Line Brayton Plumbing uses advanced video camera inspection tools to locate and assess sewer line cracks and other damage. Every property and sewer system is unique, but based on the most common issues we encounter, our trenchless repair options may include: Pipe Relining Pipe relining creates a new pipe within your existing one. After thoroughly cleaning the sewer line, we insert a durable liner that hardens in place, sealing cracks and restoring the pipe to full function. New Sewer Pipe When appropriate, we can use hydraulic equipment to pull a new sewer pipe through the old, damaged line. As the new pipe is installed, the remnants of the old pipe are broken apart—providing a seamless, long-lasting replacement with minimal excavation. Preventive Maintenance We offer routine inspections and drain cleaning to help prevent grease, hair, and other debris from clogging or damaging your pipes. Regular maintenance can stop cracks before they form or catch problems early, when repairs are simpler and more affordable.

Rising water bills: If your bill increases for no clear reason, it may be a sign of an undetected leak. Musty or moldy odor: Sometimes you’ll smell a leak before you can see or hear it. signs of a leaking toilet Unusual noises: Bubbling, gurgling, or groaning sounds from the pipes beneath or behind the toilet often indicate a leak—not a haunted bathroom. Unexpected water on the floor: Moisture may appear near the base of the toilet or even in areas farther away. Small leaks can travel along grout lines or be absorbed by rugs, making early signs easy to miss. Uneven flooring or loose tiles: A raised spot in the floor or tiles lifting around the toilet may signal a long-term, slow leak. Moldy or sewer odors: Persistent musty or sewage smells in the bathroom can be a warning that water is leaking or escaping from the toilet.
